About Voddie t. Baucham jr.

(1969-2025)

A man with a gray beard and short gray hair, wearing a dark blue suit, is standing on a stage holding a clear acrylic podium. The background is blurred with a large audience and blue lighting.

Dr. Voddie T. Baucham, Jr. was a shepherd, a watchman, and a faithful servant of Christ whose voice rang with clarity in an age of confusion. A husband, father, grandfather, pastor, theologian, professor, and best-selling author, his life was marked by unwavering conviction, fearless proclamation, and deep love for the church.

From pulpits and classrooms across the world, Dr. Baucham labored to call God’s people back to the authority of Scripture, the centrality of Christ, and the sufficiency of the gospel for every sphere of life. He did not bend with the winds of culture, nor soften the truth for the sake of acceptance. Instead, he preached Christ crucified with courage, clarity, and compassion.

Renowned for his ability to make the eternal weight of Scripture bear upon everyday life, Dr. Baucham challenged believers to think deeply, live faithfully, and stand firmly. Whether addressing the historicity of the Bible, the resurrection of Christ, biblical manhood and womanhood, the family, or the encroachment of unbiblical ideologies into the church, his teaching cut through confusion and pointed relentlessly back to God’s Word.

The power of his ministry was inseparable from the path God ordained for him. Raised in a non-Christian, single-parent home, he did not hear the gospel until his college years. His journey to faith was forged through skepticism and careful thought, granting him a rare ability to speak to outsiders with honesty and to believers with substance rather than tradition. He understood the questions of doubt because he had once asked them himself.

Dr. Baucham earned degrees from Houston Baptist University (B.A. in Christianity, B.A. in Sociology), Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.), and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (D.Min.), with additional post-graduate study at the University of Oxford (Regent’s Park College). Yet, it was not academic prestige that defined him—but fidelity to the Word of God.

Beyond preaching and teaching, Dr. Baucham lent his voice to films including George Washington Carver: An Uncommon Way, Genesis: Paradise Lost, and the Genesis 4D experience at the Creation Museum. He was also an accomplished martial artist, taking up Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2012 as a means of discipline, self-defense, and outreach. In 2019, he established the first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy in Zambia—a testament to his belief that every domain of life belongs to Christ.

Dr. Baucham was married to his beloved wife, Bridget, since 1989. Together they raised nine children and rejoiced in the blessing of grandchildren. As a family, the Baucham’s are devoted to Christian education. And as a part of that commitment God called them to advance His Kingdom in Lusaka, Zambia, where they served faithfully from 2015 until 2024. Voddie Baucham served as the founding Dean of the School of Divinity and as Senior Lecturer at the African Christian University.

In 2025 the Baucham’s moved back to Florida where Voddie Baucham would become the founding president of Founders Seminary and was also a founding faculty member of the Institute of Public Theology. Voddie Baucham, as cofounder of Wrath and Grace Ministries, established and forged a ministry—dedicated to producing and distributing free content and resources to confront and create culture for Christ.

In these roles, he poured his life into training pastors, equipping leaders, the global and local church, as well as families for generations yet to come. On September 25 of 2025, Dr. Baucham entered the rest and glory of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Though Dr. Voddie Baucham has gone to be with the Lord, his voice has not been silenced. His sermons still thunder. His books still instruct. His convictions still steady the church. And his ministries continue to bear fruit, calling future generations to stand unashamed upon the truth of Scripture and the lordship of Christ.

His race is finished. His legacy continues...
