A MODERN CHRISTMAS CAROL
(or "Tiny Tim is Institutionalized in a Government School")
In Dickens' much loved tale of the Christmas transformation of Ebenezer Scrooge, concern for the fate of the handicapped Tiny Tim plays a pivotal role in Scrooge's redemption.
Part of Dickens' genius in creating Scrooge was that Dickens allowed Scrooge to retain a core of humanity. While miserly and thoughtless of others, Scrooge was not deliberately cruel. Thus, Dickens' readers could find it plausible that Scrooge, forced to a greater awareness of his own mortality and of his ability to influence the future of the Cratchits and, especially, Tiny Tim, could metamorphose into a far better man.
A question that we might well ask this Christmas 2009 is how would the disabled Tiny Tim fare in hands of today's highly trained education professionals? The Continuing Collapse is certain that most of its readers still viscerally believe that government schools somehow retain a core of decency, but they don't. Institutions that are anti-Christian resemble their father. As institutions, government schools belong to their father. Do you doubt?
Below we have General Accounting Office report that punctures the facade of respectability and compassion that our highly trained education professionals and the education establishment increasingly struggle to maintain. As you will see, the answer to the question about Tiny Tim is that our highly trained education professionals, lacking Scrooge's latent decency and compassion, would probably gag him and lock him in a closet.
Please note that the GAO presents systematic data showing severe abuse of handicapped students. Rest assured that a report like this doesn't see the light of day unless the government believes that the problem can't be concealed any longer.
U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan will ensure that all states have policies in place for handling seclusion and restraint in schools before the start of the next academic year, he told the House Education and Labor Committee Wednesday.
Duncan’s announcement comes in response to a government report released at the committee’s meeting Tuesday. That report documented hundreds of cases of allegedly abusive or deadly uses of restraint and seclusion tactics in schools. It included cases of teachers holding students face down for hours, gagging them, leaving them in dark, closet-like spaces for hours at a time and preventing students from using the bathroom, among other allegations. Nearly all of the allegedly abusive cases involve children with disabilities.
Duncan called the information revealed in the report “very disturbing, troubling information.”
“Children’s safety has to be our number one concern before we begin to think about educating them,” Duncan said. “I’m going to ask state school chiefs from around the country to report to me what their plans are to make sure that student safety is taken care of… I want to make sure that at the start of the next school year that every state has a real clear plan as to how to do this in a way that makes sense and that doesn’t jeopardize, doesn’t endanger children.”

Imagine. The children the GAO reports on are often autistic or have other handicaps such as cerebral palsy. They are in schools because of the liberal policy of “mainstreaming” implemented decades ago. Now that they are forced into the schools, they are being brutalized by our highly trained education professionals. Here are some examples from the GAO report (http://www.gao.gov/new.items/d09719t.pdf):
Disabled children as young as 6 years old were allegedly placed in strangleholds, restrained for extended periods of time, confined to dark rooms, prevented from using the restroom causing them to urinate on themselves, and tethered to ropes in one public school district.
A special education teacher at a public school was accused of using bungee cords and duct tape to fasten children as young as 5 years old to chairs designed to support kids with muscular difficulties. According to parents, their children sustained injuries such as broken arms and bloody noses while in this teacher’s class. A teacher’s aide told investigators that the woman used the restraints on a daily basis to punish the children.
According to the father of an 8-year-old autistic boy, his son suffered from scratches, bruises and a broken nose after being put in a prone restraint by his public school teacher and aide.
A sixth-grade special education student reportedly had his leg broken by the public school teacher who was trying to restrain him.
A 12-year-old girl allegedly had her arm fractured by a special education teacher who put her in a “therapeutic hold,” described as being similar to a “bear hug” or hold a student’s arms behind their back.
Do you think you understand the the enormity of the problem now, Dear Reader? Well, you don't. Summaries and data don’t even begin to communicate the horror of the widespread government school child abuse described above.
Below we have the details of an example of government school special education compassion in action. The victim, our Tiny Tim, is 11 year-old Stefan Ferrari - autistic and nonverbal - who was physically and verbally abused by highly trained education professionals in Atlanta's government system. Please read it all by clicking on the link. You need to understand the brutality, mendacity, and callousness of the education establishment.
ATLANTA -- "I don't think I can say we're surprised. We're disappointed," said Carolyn Ferrari.
She sat in her kitchen, still absorbing the latest news. Atlanta Schools has appealed the case her family won.
The 54 page appeal filed by attorneys for Atlanta Public Schools demands that Judge John Gatto's decision in Stefan Ferarri's case be overturned, in part saying that Gatto erred in "admitting the testimony regarding the audiotape into evidence."
The audiotape was played in court for teacher Sherri Jones. She wore headsets to listen to the audio and on the stand she admitted to making inappropriate comments, but denied that she ever hit Stefan. Gatto ruled that Stefan was abused by an adult at his school but never named anyone.
Mother Carolyn Ferrari sewed a microphone into Stefan's shirt and recorded his day at school.
In the appeal, APS attorneys argued the employees accused of abusing Stefan "were not in any time in control of Atlanta Schools," so the judge's ruling shouldn't stand, yet the also say in the appeal that "the program and the placement Atlanta Schools offered to Stefan was appropriate."
In the original decision the judge ruled Atlanta Schools had to foot the bill for Stefan's private education until he was 22 years old because of what happened. In the appeal, APS attorneys said Gatto erred in deciding "Stefan is entitled to elite private services for the remainder of his educational entitlement simply because the parents want to choose the 'best' programs, in their opinion, for their child."
The appeal stands in stark contrast to what Atlanta School officials told 11Alive News on camera back in May.
In an interview one day after Stefan's story first aired, Atlanta Assistant Superintendent Kathy Augustine told 11Alive's Jaye Watson, "I'm angry, horrified and disgusted about what happened to the young man at North Metro. Remember, what was done to Stefan is not an "isolated incident". That lie is untenable in light of the GAO report's findings that disabled children across the country are being brutalized by our highly trained education professionals.
Perhaps now you can understand why Arne Duncan's "we need a plan" PR initiative was politically necessary. If you read the details about the abuse of Stefan, however, you will also realize that, even if plans are adopted, it won't make any difference. As we prepare for Christmas 2009 the White House is quietly working on celebrating a "nonreligious" Christmas; that is, a Christmas without Christ.
That is rather like presenting a production of Hamlet without the prince of Denmark. The government schools succeeded in doing that years ago, of course, and are now working toward expunging the name of the hated holiday altogether. TCC is sure that in time the Obama Administration will catch up to the government schools.
In any event, here we have a story in which you can see our highly trained education professionals and the our judiciary working hand-in-hand to make sure that there is no "Christ" in Christmas anywhere in the Third Circuit - no exceptions.
The federal appeals court in Philadelphia has upheld a New Jersey school district's ban on religious songs during the Christmas holiday season.
In their ruling, three judges of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals noted that such songs were once common in public schools, but that times have changed....
MORE EVIDENCE THAT GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS ARE INSTITUTIONALIZEDCHILD ABUSE
Our highly trained education professionals kindly see to it that the The Continuing Collapse never lacks for material. Indeed, TCC is tempted to think that there must be a committee dedicated to devising ever more outlandish behavior by government "educators" just to see if there is any limit to what they can get away with.
The Continuing Collapse reported in the last issue that instead of raising money through bake sales, a school district was raising money through "grade sales". Now we find that money is not the only thing that our highly trained education professionals will barter away their teaching duties in exchange for.
In Tennessee we have a tale of school work being set aside if a highly trained education professional is allowed to gratify his sadistic urges.
Paris, Tenn.-A Henry County High School substitute teacher was arrested on three counts of simple assault after striking three students with a 2x4 during school hours Thursday...
At a press conference Monday morning, Sheriff Monte Belew said the paddling was in exchange for the students not having to do any school work.
Belew said several students videotaped the paddlings with their camera phones. The videos have been shown around town and the department has received numerous complaints from parents about the substitute teacher's actions...
The initial investigation, Belew said, revealed that three students in the class had requested "to do things other than school work." The teacher agreed that if they built a 2x4 and each of them took "one lick" from it, "they could do whatever they wanted to do the rest" of the period.
After constructing the board, three students volunteered to take a lick "to avoid doing their school work".
Striking students in this manner is a violation of school policy, Belew said. Policy requires that any corporal punishment be witnessed officially and that it be used as a disciplinary action.
Belew said the paddlings in this case were not for disciplinary reasons. "This was reckless, negligent. It was a two-handed strike, using all of his weight," he said. The action by the teacher "was absolutely unacceptable behavior."
Damon Lowe, director of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) said, "Some people may say they bargained with the teacher for this. Well, students aren't there to bargain with the teacher. School is supposed to be a safe haven."...

HIGHLY TRAINED EDUCATION PROFESSIONAL BLAZES TRAIL WITH INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO STUDENT DISCIPLINE
Well, at least you can't say that this highly trained suburban education professional doesn't believe in consequences:
ATLANTA (Nov. 17) -- A suburban Atlanta high school teacher has been accused of pursuing a "hit" on a 16-year-old student last month, and the case is under investigation by local authorities.
Randolph Forde -- who teaches at Mundy's Mill High School in Clayton County -- has been charged with making terroristic threats and was released on bond.
He is currently on administrative leave from his job with pay...
A Clayton County Police report says the incident occurred October 9. The suspect took a student off a school bus and told him he "would pay him to kill the victim," the report says. When the student asked who the target would be, the suspect said he'd write the name on a note, it says.
"The teacher held a piece of paper up with the victim's name on it," said Officer Otis Willis III of the Clayton police....
Attorney Terance Madden, who represents alleged target and his family, issued a statement saying that problems between the boy and the teacher go back to "on or about September 29," when "Forde allegedly called my client outside the class and asked him if he is gay."
Then "on or about September 30," the two had an argument in class and Forde threatened "to hit him in his 'effin' mouth," Madden's statement said.
"Not only did my client report the verbal altercation and verbal threat to the vice principal of Mundy's Mill HS, he also reported that Mr. Forde asked him outside the classroom for the inappropriate question of whether he was gay," the statement said. "Apparently nothing was done by the school administration to either Mr. Forde or my client, because Mr. Forde was back in the classroom on October 1, as was my client."
Madden said the school didn't take any action until after a police report was filed on October 12 about the incident.

Sodomy Czar is Back in the News
Just when it looked as if Kevin Jennings - Southern Baptist Preacher's Kid, founder of GLSEN, and equal opportunity promoter of sexual deviancy - had weathered the storm created by his appointment as "Safe Schools Czar", some folks in the media and the blogsphere are reporting on what they have discovered about who Mr. Jennings really is.
See if you can stay with the story to the end, including the material that is linked. Why? Because GLSEN's reading list is in fact Kevin Jennings' reading list, and it is a reflection of the kind of reading that the leadership of the government school system now thinks children need to do to stay "safe".
Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings was the founder, and for many years, Executive Director of an organization called the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). GLSEN started essentially as Jennings’ personal project and grew to become the culmination of his life’s work. And he was chosen by President Obama to be the nation’s Safe Schools Czar primarily because he had founded and led GLSEN.
GLSEN’s stated mission is to empower gay youth in the schools and to stop harassment by other students. It encourages the formation of Gay Student Alliances and condemns the use of hateful words. GLSEN also strives to influence the educational curriculum to include materials which the group believes will increase tolerance of gay students and decrease bullying. To that end, GLSEN maintains a recommended reading list of books that it claims “furthers our mission to ensure safe schools for all students.” In other words, these are the books that GLSEN’s directors think all kids should be reading: gay kids should read them to raise their self-esteem, and straight kids should read them in order to become more aware and tolerant and stop bullying gay kids....
Out of curiosity to see exactly what kind of books Kevin Jennings and his organization think American students should be reading in school, our team chose a handful at random from the over 100 titles on GLSEN’s grades 7-12 list, and began reading through.
What we discovered shocked us. We were flabbergasted. Rendered speechless.
We were unprepared for what we encountered.
Book after book after book contained stories and anecdotes that weren’t merely X-rated and pornographic, but which featured explicit descriptions of sex acts between pre-schoolers; stories that seemed to promote and recommend child-adult sexual relationships; stories of public m*sturbation, an*l sex in restrooms, affairs between students and teachers, five-year-olds playing sex games, s*men flying through the air. One memoir even praised becoming a prostitute as a way to increase one’s self-esteem. Above all, the books seemed to have less to do with promoting tolerance than with an unabashed attempt to indoctrinate students into a hyper-sexualized worldview.
We knew that unless we carefully documented what we were reading, the public would have a hard time accepting it. Mere descriptions on our part could not convey the emotional gut reaction one gets when seeing what Kevin Jennings wants kids to read as school assignments. So we began scanning pages from each of the books, and then made exact transcriptions of the relevant passages on each page....

This veteran teacher says that if parents believe that keeping their children out of sex-ed classes will prevent the children from hearing and believing the agenda that permeates our schools, they are wrong.
It might make the parent feel good and give a false sense of security that all is okay under his roof. But what about GLSEN's "Integrated Curriculum Plan?" How does a parent remove his child from math, science, English, social studies, and foreign languages when teachers have been taught to plant little contaminated seeds into the fertilized ground of the usual daily lessons?

The most traumatic experience of my many years in teaching was attending what is now known as the Fistgate Conference at Tufts University last March 25 [2000].
I was not prepared for the overwhelming distress that my body, mind and spirit would suffer. I began by visiting an exhibit booth where a cheerful girl, about 15-years-of-age, generously supplied me with sequin-decorated packets of condoms, which held other paraphernalia including a Band-Aid. (Another eyewitness would later tell me that the girl explained to him that the Band-Aid was in case the sex "got a little rough.")
Despite their "safe sex" public relations campaign, the people who sponsored the event, Gay Lesbian Straight Educators Network, obviously teach minors that sadomasochistic practices are normal. I thought we have laws on the books to prevent such abuse to children, but the governor, courts, and legislature have collectively buried their heads in the sand. It is up to individuals to expose this horrific and overwhelming evidence of massive criminal sexual exploitation of our children. The exhibits were only my first encounters. Suddenly the burden of reporting the evils of this event weighed heavily on my soul.
Another handout shocked me, not for prurient reasons, but for its painful honesty. The small flier had a phone number for lesbians to call when they have been physically harmed by a partner. Statistics from the gay community bear out the ugly truth that homosexuals are far more abused or accidentally murdered by one of their partners than they ever are by heterosexuals. S & M lives, but its victims do not...
Massachusetts is Model for National GSAs
I slouched into the auditorium and sat down among about 300 adults and 200 kids. Just sitting elbow-to-elbow with minors at what I first thought would be an adult-only conference was disconcerting. In all my decades of teaching, I had never before attended any education seminars where students were taught on the same level with veteran teachers. Even before the conference began, I sensed the importance of the adult-child mentorship that is so vital for the "gay agenda" to propagate its divisive and destructive doctrines into the core beliefs of the youth subculture.
The keynote speaker was the Founder of GLSEN and GSAs, Kevin Jennings. A sort of heroic guru, he was revered and wildly applauded by young and old alike. Jennings boasted of co-creating in 1988 the country's first two GSAs - both in Massachusetts. In little more than a decade, GSAs now total 700, having doubled their numbers in the last two years. "Students liberated themselves from the closet," Jennings trumpeted.
Thanks to the well-funded coffers of the Governor's Gay and Lesbian Youth Commission, 188 GSAs thrive in this state alone. (That means that one in four GSAs across the country are organized in Massachusetts.) [This is was written in 2000. Today the number of sodomite clubs may be over 5,000] However, Jennings expressed sadness that almost half of the Commonwealth high schools still have no such club. This indicated to him how much work still must be done.
Make no bones about it; the Commonwealth - with your tax money - is their youth model for the rest of the nation. Our adversaries have set their goal in concrete: a GSA in every high school.
According to several published articles I have read, they now have begun to push them into the middle schools. "There is [sic] no two sides to this debate. There is a right; there is a wrong. We are right our opponents are wrong," Jennings exulted to his cheering fans. I longed for the good old days - maybe fifteen years ago - when the G & L community said all they were asking for was "tolerance." But there is no tolerance for the Judeo-Christian point of view now that the Governor's Gay and Lesbian Youth Commission dictates its ideology to the mind-controlled masses. They have the nerve to call this "education?"
GLSEN High Priest Twists Scripture
The son of a Southern Baptist minister, Jennings preached with overt religious exhortations. I wondered how the hundreds of trusting parents who blindly sent their children into this den of government-funded iniquity would feel if they knew that the state was unabashedly retraining their children.
How many of these brainwashed teens would return to their families with new "spiritual arguments" to challenge their parents' old-fashioned, moral absolute beliefs of right and wrong? GLSEN's tactics, like those of postmodern liberalism, are simple: 1) mock, tear down and remove the foundational Judeo-Christian morality and the beliefs on which American religious culture was built; and 2) replace the spiritual void with a new "enlightened" religious substitute, masking what is the strategically planned opposing worldview of secular humanism. I was shocked to hear the "Reverend" Jennings retell the Gospel's story of the widow's mite. The poor widow was blessed by Jesus because she placed all that she had in the temple offering. Jenning's misinterpretation came in the final point as he challenged the audience to political activism: "Are we giving all that we have [to the G & L movement]? Probably most of us could do more." Jennings' congregation listened intently. Several workshop presenters later echoed his do-more-for-the-cause exhortation.
Not one listener even raised an eyebrow to question High Priest Jennings' twisted scripture. I recorded his religious rhetoric, only the first of many such references I would encounter during the conference. It appears that GLSEN advocates, who were spouting pagan or secular dogma a decade ago, have now adopted more culturally acceptable religious overtones. I wondered if even the youth brought up in the church would be able to discern the difference between GLSEN's designer-deity garbage from the sweet fruits of God's absolute truth...

You know that Jennings shares his closet with a lot of skeletons when a mainstream news outlet publishes an editorial about him titled "Obama's Buggery Czar":
The media is trying to keep this story in the closet, but it's important not to wink at all the serious problems surrounding President Obama's controversial "safe schools czar," Kevin Jennings....
Now revelations have surfaced that Mr. Jennings not only thought there was nothing wrong with boys having sex with older men (or girls having sex with older women), but he also played a role in promoting such relationships....
