Two giants have officially cast their lots in the California marriage debate. Both Google and Apple have donated healthy sums of money ($100,000 and $140,000 respectively) to the effort to defeat California’s Proposition 8 in the upcoming election. Both companies are committed to promoting so-called “Gay” marriage. In a recent article, Apple made their position clear:
"Apple was among the first California companies to offer equal rights and benefits to our employees' same-sex partners, and we strongly believe that a person's fundamental rights - including the right to marry - should not be affected by their sexual orientation,"
Google cofounder, Sergey Brin, added:
"While we respect the strongly held beliefs that people have on both sides of this argument, we see this fundamentally as an issue of equality. We hope that California voters will vote no on Proposition 8 - we should not eliminate anyone's fundamental rights, whatever their sexuality, to marry the person they love,"
This is quite interesting. Brin commits two critical errors in his argument. First, he frames the argument as one of denial of fundamental rights, yet he says he respects the strongly held beliefs of those who commit such a travesty. Since when do those who trample on the “fundamental rights” of others deserve respect? Brin’s second, and most crucial logical flaw is his insistence that this is merely a question of people being able to marry the person they love. This is a common fallacy in the homosexual marriage debate. Allow me to demonstrate.
What’s Love Got to Do With It?
The first problem with this argument is the fact that it is a logical absurdity. There are many people whom I love, and I cannot marry most of them. I love my daughter, my sons, my church members, my parents. I love a lot of people! Is love the only standard Brin (and other proponents of homosexual marriage) want to uphold in marriage? Of course, Brin is referring to “romantic” love. However, that doesn’t make much difference. There are many people who love in this way, but cannot marry. What if I love two women? What I love someone too young? The North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) has an unofficial motto: “Eight is too late!” Should these men who love (in a romantic/sexual way) little boys be allowed to marry them? Again, this is absolutely absurd, and frankly, I’m tired of this line of argumentation going unchallenged.
Homosexuals CAN Marry!
The other issue that is crucial for us to understand is that --contrary to popular belief-- homosexuals are not denied equal rights when it comes to marriage. Homosexuals have always had the same access to marriage heterosexuals have. Moreover, homosexuals have been getting married in this country for centuries. We have all heard the stories about gay men and lesbian women who get married for one reason or another. Some have gotten married to ‘hide’ their homosexuality (Rock Hudson, for example). Others have gotten married in denial of their homosexuality. However, we must not miss the point. These people can get married!
The whole Civil Rights argument is a red herring. Think about it, homosexuals claim that they are denied rights in ways similar to blacks in the years prior to the Civil Rights Movement. They claim that this is a “Jackie Robinson” issue. But there is a difference. Black baseball players were denied the right to play baseball. They did not want to add a fifth base, a tenth player, or a fourth strike. They wanted to play the same game! Homosexuals are not asking for equality in marriage (they have that), they are asking for a redefinition of marriage. We mustn’t allow this one to slide as we attempt to offer an apologetic for our marriage position.
Unfortunately, this is largely a moot point. Homosexual marriage is here, and more than likely it is here to stay. The systematic program of homosexual propaganda outlined by homosexual authors like Kirk and Madsen in the late 1980s has been completely effective. Through news media, entertainment media, and government education, homosexual activists have conquered the culture. According to Kirk and Madsen, the aggressive campaign “depends centrally upon a program of unabashed propaganda, firmly grounded in long-established principles of psychology and advertising.” (Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen, After the Ball: How America Will Conquer Its Fear & Hatred of Gays in the 90s, New York: Doubleday, 1989) And it was no secret!
“AIDS, though a loose cannon, is a cannon indeed. As cynical as it may seem, AIDS gives us a chance, however brief, to establish ourselves as a victimized minority legitimately deserving of America’s special protection and care” (After the Ball).
How have the propagandists faired? Both major party candidates support homosexual marriage (the Republicans just want “civil unions” first), every government school is pro-homosexual by federal mandate, and eighteen to twenty-four year-olds overwhelmingly support homosexual marriage (they are the first batch of new recruits to go through the entire “After the Ball” propaganda machine).
While the homosexuals were infiltrating the culture and changing worldviews, evangelicals were talking about being “Salt and Light” in the very indoctrination centers (i.e., government schools) that were co-opted for the purpose of transforming their children’s worldview. Now there is virtually no discernible difference in the worldviews of professing Christians in younger generations from their non-Christian counterparts. You wonder why a neo-Marxist like Obama can even have a chance in this election? You wonder why homosexual marriage is now legal on both coasts? It’s simple, we decided to march with picket signs and send out urgent emails calling on Christians to alert their congressmen on key issues while our opponents realized what Adolph Hitler knew all too well:
“When an opponent declares, “I will not come over to your side,” I calmly say, “Your child belongs to us already… What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community. (Adolph Hitler)
This “new community” is precisely what is driving the homosexual marriage movement. Oh, by the way, for those of you who are thinking about a boycott of Apple and Google, you might want to go here first to see how many companies rate 100% on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equity index. There are 259 of them, and I assure you, you use their products and services every day. And that’s just the ones with a perfect score! This is bigger than you think.
